Caprylic (Capric Triglycerides)
A light, fast-spreading, non-greasy emollient that also acts as a solvent; softens skin, reduces tack, improves flow/viscosity and spreadability, and enhances glide in creams, serums, balms, and cleansers. (INCI: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride; also known as MCT oil)

CCT-11231
A low-viscosity, highly stable triglyceride made from glycerin and medium-chain fatty acids (C8/C10) sourced from coconut or palm kernel. It imparts a soft, silky touch and facilitates wetting/dispersion of pigments and mineral UV filters, while improving the solubility of many lipophilic actives and fragrances in the oil phase. Oxidation-resistant and odorless, it supports long-term formula stability and is compatible with most esters, hydrocarbons, and many silicones. Suitable for both leave-on and rinse-off products across a wide pH range.
Benefits:
● Soft, non-greasy emolliency; lowers tack and reduces rub resistance
● Excellent for wetting/dispersion of pigments and mineral UV filters
● Enhances slip and overall skin feel
● Good solvent for oil-soluble actives and fragrances within the oil phase
●
Oxidatively
stable; supports formula stability and scent clarity
How to use:
● Add to the oil phase of emulsions; cold process or heat (typically 70–75 °C when heating).
● Use as a primary carrier in anhydrous oils/balms or to cut heavier oils for a lighter feel.
●
For pigment
and mineral sunscreen dispersions: pre-wet powders before milling; a dedicated
dispersant is preferred for best stability.
Recommended usage levels in skincare:
● Creams/lotions/serums: 2–15% (up to 20% for a plusher feel)
● Cleansing oils/balms and makeup removers: 10–90% (system-dependent)
● Sunscreens (as oil-phase carrier): 5–20%
● Body/massage oils: 50–100% (as base or blend)
● Sugar/salt scrubs: 10–50%
●
Hair
oils/leave-ins: 2–15%
Solubility:
● Insoluble in water
●
Miscible with
most cosmetic oils/esters and hydrocarbons (e.g., isohexadecane) and many
silicones; readily blends with fragrances and oil-soluble actives
Applications:
● Face and body creams/lotions (light emollient, tack reduction)
● Cleansing oils/balms and oil-to-milk systems
● Makeup removers and oil serums
● Oil phases for mineral and organic sunscreens
● Body and massage oils; anhydrous sticks
●
Sugar/salt
scrubs and lip-care bases
Storage:
Keep tightly closed, away from light and
moisture, at a moderate temperature (below 25 °C).
